The Chess Endgame Exercise Book

Endelig en glimrende trenings- og testbok i sluttspill, av den store kjenneren John Nunn. 444 stort sett ganske krevende oppgavestillinger med gjennomgang av løsningene praktisk på baksiden.

Oppgavestillingene er merket fra en til fem stjerner etter vanskelighetsgrad. De fleste er nesten bare for spillere med ratingstyrke fra 1900-2000 og oppover. Som Nunn selv forteller, er du nær Magnus Carlsen-nivå om du klarer 90% av stillingene i boka riktig.

Men det er også en bok der det gjelder å prøve seg på stillingene, og så lære av riktige løsninger etterpå. Med mer av denne holdningen er dette underholdende og lærerikt stoff også for spillere fra ratingstyrke fra ca 1400 og oppover. Nunn legger vekt på at oppgavene i tur og orden også lærer oss noe vi gjerne vil kunne i sluttspill!

Dr John Nunn is one of the best-respected figures in world chess. He was among the world’s leading grandmasters for nearly twenty years and won four gold medals at chess Olympiads. In 2004, 2007 and 2010, Nunn was crowned World Chess Solving Champion, ahead of many former champions. In 2011, his two-volume work Nunn’s Chess Endings won the English Chess Federation Book of the Year Award, and was highly praised by Levon Aronian (who read both books cover to cover!) when making the award presentation.
